2013 Los Angeles Region First Lego League Championship

Dec 30, 2013

The Los Angeles Region First Lego League (FLL) Championship Tournament was recently held at South High School in Torrance on December 14-15th. FIRST is a global robotics program to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, promoting innovation and foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership. FIRST provides the FIRST Robotics Competition for high-school students and the FIRST LEGO League for 9 to 14 years olds. ┬áNature’s Fury was this year’s challenge where teams from over 70 countries will discover what can be done when intense natural events such as storms, quakes, waves and more affect the places people live, work, and play. Teams are required to complete and present four steps to the FLL judges: 1. Choose a Community 2. Identify a Problem 3. Create an Innovative Solution 4. Share with Others. What an excellent program for young people to gain experience in technical creativity, teamwork, friendly competition and entrepreneurship.
