Flying Car Roadable Aircraft Design | The CaraVellair

Jan 6, 2013

Science/Innovator fans please join the The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Thursday, January 17th, at Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems to hear about the CaraVellair Flying Car/Roadable Aircraft by Joseph R. Caravella Jr.  http://caravella.eventbrite.com/

Joseph R. Caravella, Jr., Founder of Caravella Aerospace, from Sherman Oaks, California.  He is a young entrepreneur who has always been interested in Aviation and before graduating high school, he built his own jet powered skateboard.  I had the opportunity to hear him speak recently at a conference through the The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)society, presented at Microcosm, space mission engineering facility located in Hawthorne, California.
It was awesome and inspirational to hear Joseph talk about his passion for aviation, the process and steps he has taken to pursue his dreams to make it happen. He discussed and went over the use of an ‘engineering first’ project plan and how it interacts with ‘business plan’ goals of intellectual property, marketing, fund raising and what he has learned about entrepreneurship and how to be successful in the public aerospace arena. Additionally, Joseph is not using any traditional investor or venture capitalist money but instead utilizing crowd funding platform in order to reach his goals with the help of supporters, volunteers, sponsors, and partners.

Currently,  there is a shortage of pilots and the airline industry is losing pilots today. By creating the CaraVellair aircraft Joseph has solved an affordable solution to the problem that may help increase awareness for flying and increase pilots that is adversely affecting the airline industry.  In 2007, Joseph decided to go full time and focus solely on his true passion aviation and develop a prototype, that is the CaraVellair aircraft. It will not only increase awareness for flying but faster travel time, it’s innovative and can be legally driven on the road with flying and driving capabilities. It has an integral design components made from airplane, car and motorcycle which makes  this concept affordable with no obstacle regulations by using commercial hardware.

Joe has also featured the CaraVellair prototype at Airventure, in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
